So. I am back. I made a quick post on Fallen Angels, but nothing that won't be repeated here. Probably.

So. Worked Saturday morning, missed my weekly trip to QC for my comics fix due to speed packing, speed petrolling, speed picking up Chas, and then driving for five hours. Was alright - got a bit depressed over programming while we were talking, but nothing I won't talk to Chas about later.

We arrived at about 5:30pm, which is pretty good timing. The puppies were very cute, and were running around the place. There were only nine of them; one of them had gone to its new home yesterday. But they were still very cute.

Watched Babylon five that night. Was interesting. ^_^

Woke up in the morning after a night in an almost-comfortable bed, and strolled out to have a look at one of the cows with Chas' mum and Maryanne (his little sister). There were two cows in the woods - one of them had had her calf, which was small and damp and cute. She was talking to it and Maryanne snuck up to about ten metres away to take a photo, and then the calf stood up and it was very cute and gangly and wobly. And then we snuck away before the heifer got angry with us. ^_^

The other cow had calving paralysis, which is where the calf pinches a nerve and their back legs don't work. She'd already had the calf - which was born dead - but she still couldn't get up. Chas' mum wasn't sure whether she was going to live or not.

And then Chas helped Maryanne with her homework (year 9 maths, ugh) and then we packed up, made sure the one adventurous puppy that wasn't hiding under the Plymouth from the rain wasn't under my back tire trying to kill itself, and left.

The five hour trip back was quite eventful - After a quick stop-over in Mt Barker town to post some letters and get Chas lunch and my car petrol, we headed out. The weather was drizzling on and off. Somewhere around halfway back, past Arthur River but before Williams, this car came up behind me very fast. Upon asking Chas to check the numberplate, it turned out to be Chas' dad and one of his little brothers (Jason/JD) who were returning from Perth, seen us on the roads, done a quick U-turn, and caught up to us. "It went up to 170, just like that," Chas' dad said of the Skyline he was driving. (that's km/h, not miles/h).

JD had just seen a motor show, and was full of talk about the nice Skylines displayed and the nice booty displayed by the bikini-clad models. *sigh*

After about ten minutes of talking we departed, Chas' dad doing another U-turn that scored big lines in the gravel lane we'd pulled over into.

...Men. *sigh*

We were warned by Chas' dad about the rain.

It was horrible.

To put everyone in context, there must have been some sort of pacing event somewhere on sunday, because the road was full of horse floats, all with little vehicles strapped to the back - two traces connected roughly in the shape of a conical flask seen sideways, with two wheels at the bottom and a thin piece of cloth in the middle. I must have passed about ten of them at least.

So when the rain came, I was in a convoy. There was a horsefloat, a truck, three cars, me, a truck, and god knows what else behind the truck. A couple of cars, maybe. See when the rain came, it came down /hard/. Windscreen wipers have three settings - the first one, where the swish once every few seconds, the second, where they swish constantly, and the third, where they swish at double speed. I had mine on the third setting, and I still couldn't see properly. It was so bad you couldn't see more than two metres in front, and those two metres was from the windscreen to the roobar on the front of my car. I could see the taillights of the car in front of me. Since I'd slowed to 80k/h when the rain came, and the car was going faster, these steadily receeded, and since I was steering by /those/, this was annoying. I could see - just - a very faint white line to my left, which was the edge of the road. I couldn't see the other side of the road. The only thing that told me I was still on the right side of the road was the few headlights that I saw coming the other way. It was the worst ten minutes of driving I've ever experienced.

And then the rain stopped falling so heavily and everything was fine. ^_^

In other news, I also have some social blogging...

Aspros, you do indeed spell my name correctly. Feel free to call me Vel. Easier on everyone. ^_^ I will soon have /more/ puppy photos, which I promise to post promptly this time. They're even cuter when they can run around. ^_^

Rissicat, I feel your pain. I too have an allergy, mine to gluten, which means no wheat, oates, barley, or rye. Being allergic to dairy as well would be a pain, though - most soy milks aren't gluten free. >.< (not that I /like/ soy milk anyway...)

Leareth-chan, Outbreed sounded fun. :( I did want to go, and then I saw the date. >.< Unfortunately, Chas and I were in Mt Barker at the time. I /do/ want to see the photos. If only to see what went on. ^_^

Twig, red velvet pants are neat. Do you have pictures? ^_^

Thorne, congratulations! ^_^

And now... I have lunch.

I had a post here, but Blogger just died and killed it. >.< It consisted of the following points:

a) Chas' birthday today. Dinner at my house, followed by watching of Babylon 5.

b)Going to Mt Barker tomorrow, to see slightly more grown up puppies, and to let Chas see his family near his birthday.

c)My little sister Ali's Year 12 Ball tonight. Took photos. She looked stunning.

d)Will post photos on LJ if Ali lets me.

e)In case anyone missed it, puppy and haircut photos are up on Fallen Angels. If you don't go, you're missing out on your yearly dose of overwhelming cuteness. And that's just Chas ^_^ ;P

That's all, I'm off. See you monday. ^_^

So, I got a new story idea today. Just something based on some lines from Christmas carols - Ding dong! Merrily on high, in heaven the bells are ringing. Ding ding! Verily the sky, is riven with angels singing. and Angels from the realms of glory, wing your flight o'er all the earth. He who sang creation's story now proclaim Messiah's birth. (or something). And then I went and found a hymn book and copied out the quotes that I needed. Do you know what I have, ladies and gentlemen?

I have an Apocalyptic Christmas Carol Story.

See, the bells ringing are the bells of war. And that song? The one those angels filling the sky are singing? Sorry to disappoint you, but that's the Song of Death. Heaven is going to war.

Mankind is screwed.

Of course, there's more to it than that, starting from the time the angel Gabriel visits Mary his wings of drifted snow; his eyes of flame. I'm planning to have quotes from the Christmas carols preceeding each section. Prophecies, if you will.

In any case, ph33r. I have Apocalyptic Christmas Carol fic.

So, committee-ness.

The Unigames AGM was last friday; I was elected librarian. The Unisfa AGM was today; I was elected OCM.

My first orders of business for the clubs will be
a) finished cataloguing the cupboards for Unigames
b) post the completed catalogue list to the Unigames site
c) Organise stuff for Unisfa. Just general stuff at this stage, but OCM doesn't offer anything specific.

And now I go to the tute I skipped the lecture for to atend the AGM. Fun. I hope someone's got notes.

The one thing that strikes me, when I was reading over VFstory last night for putting up on my site, was the hideous use of really bad fangirl Japanese. "Nani?" my characters cry. And they say "Hai." All the time. And, just like DBZ, the enemies have realy bad names, all around similar themes. I think I had one group named Hidoi Hakai, Minzoku-Bokumetsu, and... something else. Whatever 'Genocide' is in Japanese. And the group before that were named after colours. Kuroi and Shiro and the like. *sigh* I suppose I should really translate them too. Although Hakai and Kuroi are neat names. And the mooks get killed very easily...

In any case. Say goodbye, horrible cringe-worthy fangirl Japanese.

Did some work on my website tonight. Now all I've got to do is fix the Books section and type up the rest of what I've written of my stories. So... it won't be up for a while yet, because I am slack. ^_^;;

...brain in a jar. /brain in a jar/. *dies* Hee. While we're at it, we may as well put Janny Wurts' head in a jar too - I'm also addicted to her Mistwraith stuff, and 6 books have only covered 30 years or so, and they fight for 500... *cries* And while I'm here, Grasshopper and Whisper rock. Rock so very, very much. ^_^ And congratulations on the job.

I have no comment on the "war".

My new hair is very neat. I've had people telling me everything from "nice" to "cute" to "adorable" to "sexy", to "...have you brushed your teeth?" *cough*Furry*cough*. For those of you who I don't see on a daily basis, photos are coming, as soon as my sister finishes her film and gets it developed.

Have to book appointments for a bone scan (for my ankle) and to get my eyes tested - mum reckons that it might be my vision that's screwing me over with these headaches - yes, another medical problem has cropped up - because the last time I had my eyes tested was ages ago, and I was borderline short sight then. Although when I took the eye test for my driver's license a year and a half ago, I could read all the letters fine... *shrugs* Anyway. I've told both mum /and/ dad that if the eye test comes up negative, I will demand a CAT scan. Hell, I may just demand one anyway. *sigh*

Chas and I are going to Mt Barker again this weekend - we'll leave as soon as I get back from work and grab a bite to eat, so hopefully about 1pm on saturday, and then stay overnight, and leave about the same time the next day so we can get back to Perth in time for Kieron's campaign that starts at 6pm. Although he did say that it was okay for me to be a little late, half an hour to an hour kind of thing. While I remember, Rae? Hope your interview thingy went well, and remember to make a new character. If you're not sure about stuff, msg me and I send you Kieron's mobile number so you can contact him.

Anyway. We're going to Mt Barker for two reasons - 1) to see the puppies doing cute puppy things, like pulling on rags and jumping out from behind corners (and Chas' mum says they're adorable right now) and 2) it's Chas' birthday on friday, so I thought he might like to see his family. ^_^ Now, if only /I/ knew what to get him... *grumble*

Have stuff to do, like copy out maths notes and read book 2 of Wheel of Time and I've been carrying FF7 around in my bag for over 3 weeks and haven't played it at all and I'm still trying to get a Holy Win off the damn Last Crusader and I'm also halfway through FF5, although I haven't played /that/ for... oh, four or five months? /And/ I have to type up my stories for my webpage, and then write content. I suck at writing content. Wah. Oh. And I also have to do last weeks DSA lab, preferably before this weeks lab, and also preferably on a linux machine so I can get used to XEmacs etc. *sigh* I have too much to do, and not enough time to do it!

And at some point I am going to drag my lazy ass in to Uni before 11am, and hand in my student card for all-hours access.

*sigh* maybe I'll just get a linux partition on Fu-kun...

Went to hospital. Got hair cut. Not at the same time, though. Went to hospital yesterday, for tests and suchlike, and then work, and got hair cut today. Er. By 'yesterday' I mean thursday. Oops.

Unfortunately, still have headache. Am hoping that application of much Babylon 5 will remove this annoying pest.

Am reading Wheel of Time, donated (borrowed) from Aaron. Thanks! ^_^

I am in pain.

My side hurts. My right side, in fact.

Thank god I'm having an ultrasound in two days.

In other news, I have to work tomorrow morning for four hours, and then I have four hours of uni immediately afterwards.

If my side is hurting this much tomorrow, I don't think I'll be able to cope. At least not without some nice painkillers.

Ow, fuck, make it stop.

While you're there, go read my Lissalya snip. Please? ^_^

Saturday, March 15, 2003
Lissalya snip will be posted to my LJ as soon as I'm finished doing this. Just some quick blogging first:

Twig, I can see the Casserole now, it's just something the proxy does, I think. It happened with Fall's blog a while ago, and then with Lilack's a little later. All I have to do is hope it goes away, and check that it is, in fact, the proxy screwing up and not something else that's common to other people. ^_^ And Grasshoper is neat and spiffy, and my review /should/ say 'Wheeeeeeeee!', but it deleted the extra 'eeeee'. So all it says is 'Whe!', which looks silly. >.< Stupid ff.net.

So, I hear that it was someone's birthday. Hope you had a good one. ^_^ (where you are, it possibly still is your birthday. Either that or it's the middle of the night.)

Went to work on the webpage yesterday, and discovered that I'd forgotten about three of my stories. ...well, shit. ^_^ And then I called one of them dragonindex, and then realised that Dragon Story had to be dragonindex, so Dragon/Serpent had to be renamed to serpentindex. *sigh* I have too many stories. And most of them aren't typed... *pulls hair out* So if you're wondering why this page /still/ isn't up, it's because I dislike putting up half-finished pages, and I'm procrastinating on typing stuff. ^_~

Am now going to find Sinclair/Garibaldi (sp?) slash on ff.net, because Chas showed me the pilot of Babylon5 last night and it was pretty good. (yes, Chas. Shutup.)

James... answer your email. Either that or tell me why I can't log on to mIRC. Do I connect to Mussel or iinet?
Vel'ithya got pinned down by Fuuma 10:51 pm | link post
Why thank you, Twig. *bows* I did enjoy it lots, and now I can read it from start to finish. ^__^

And as to your rant...

...

Sometimes I wish that I was in America, because you guys get a lot of things that are unavailable to us over here in Australia. And then I hear about stuff like that, and... I'm sure my mum and dad won't mind if strange Americans crash in the spare room. ^_^

Wrote another Lissalya snip today, following on from the last one, but as Fu-kun is at home and I am in UCC, is not to be. *sigh* Will post later.

Last Crusader in VS very annoying. Refuses to give me Rood Blade. *beats with stick* Gimme!

...must start playing FF7 again. Stupid uni. >.<

Going home to watch TV with Chas now. And maybe have dinner too, sometime. I'm hungry.

*yanws* First DSA lab not so bad after all. Got physio appointment for my ankle next monday, so I should be able to start karate (for the third time this year... >.<) in a week or two. Maybe I'll just train my upper body for now... *sigh* Once you get out of a groove, it's just so hard to go back in, you know?

When I first started it was great. I was going once a week, and I loved it. About six months in, I started going twice a week. And in another six months, I was going to five classes a week on four nights, and Sempai-ing the double class with two other Sensei's. And a year and three months later, here I am, plagued by back problems followed by a broken toe followed by not one but two twisted ankles, although it was the same ankle each time.

I just don't know if I really want to make such a big commitment again, after so much time away.

*Bows down and worships* You are a god. Goddess. I worship at your feet for you hath finished ALHR and it was good. Is good. I may have to save it to my harddrive so I can reread its goodness any time I want. In other words, in the state I'm in, the only review I would be able to give is a fangirly squeal. ^_^

It's hot and I'm tired and grumpy and I have a headache and it's hot. Did I mention it's hot? It went over 40 today, and it must be at least 38 right now, and one fan on rotate isn't good enough when you have a hot laptop sitting on your legs. Fuck. I mean, 38 frickin degrees, Celsius no less. That's... too hot. And /here/ they don't cancel lectures for heat, no, they just aircondition the lecture theatres. Except that UCC isn't in a lecture theatre, it's in an old building that they're not going to air condition because its on the heritage list and I'm too hot ARGH!!!

*ahem*

This announcement brought to you by the fact that I'm too hot, and swimming in my own sweat.

You think I'm joking? Think again. I had a /cold/ shower this morning, and after I towelled myself down and got dressed, I was still too hot. Bleh.

So, in case anyone missed my post yesterday at Fallen Angels, I am now going to be much more genki than I have been for the past few months.

Also yesterday, although this I haven't blogged about yet, is that when I got home from work I was told that dad wanted to speak to me. And so I raced up the stairs and asked him what is was... I get Fu-kun back tonight! *squeals* Whee!!! ^__^

...you have no idea how happy this makes me. ^___^

In other news, yay for KMS! (is that how I say your name? would you prefer I called you sheridan? or kay?) for she hath noticed I have an apostrophe in my full name, unlike all webbrowsers and sign-up thingumies. And she also had on her reccs page links to some tasty Highlander slash, which I've been reading, even though I can count on both hands the number of highlander episodes I've seen. I mean, back when I was in love with the first movie, I found four videos in my store labelled Highlander: the series, and I looked at the guy on the front and went "eh. he's ugly." and ignored them. And then a while later I thought well, maybe they wouldn't be /too/ bad... and then I got them out and watched the 8 episodes and fell in love with Duncan. eheh. ^_^;; Of course, my video store being crap, they only had those four videos. Meh. And then the other year when Liz and Rae and I were fangirling over Gravitation, we watched a few episodes of Highlander that Liz had on tape, to introduce me to the Methos-love.

...And boy, did it work. But as of yet, I have only seen about 10 episodes. 8 from the first season, and those 2 or 3 of... whenever that was. It involved Duncan taking a Dark Quickening and ending up in a cave with the sword of the MacLeod clan and fighting himself. And not much Methos :( But yeah. One day I will find a decent video store, with lots of Highlander, and hire them all, and then watch them, squealing like the fangirl I am whenever my two leading men come on screen. Especially if they're on the screen /together/. ^_~

Thorne, that's very, very good news about the operation. ^_^ I am glad for you. And as to that video... *cries* Dammit! Now I'll have to... I don't know, travel to America one day and watch it at your place? *hopeful look* Hee. When I have lots of money. Maybe in 5 years or so, ne? :P

What else happened today... nothing, really... Was able to do /all/ the problems the Maths217 guy set for us in today's workshop, so I am a right happy little Vel. Screwed up again in the Mech101 tute, but we can't all be perfect, can we?

Can't wait to see Fu-kun again. Sometime on the weekend Dad and I are going to sit down and check through the stuff I backed up on his laptop, and make sure everything on Fu-kun is still intact. And then... and then I can start working on my website again! *cheers*

In other news, I'm hungry, as we /were/ going to roleplay and therefore call out to the nearby fish'n'chips shop, but as we only had 3 people, we didn't, and thus I have no tea. Grump.

Going now. Maybe I'll trawl for some more Methos-fic. ^_^

I have senior training tonight for karate, and I don't want to go.

I'm tired, I've got a slight headache, and I'm going to fail all my units this semester. Except Mech 101, but judging by my spectacular failure in the first tute, the easiest tute that I should have remembered from last year, I'm goign to fail that one too.

And all I want to do is sit on my ass, eat some chocolate or some icecream, and then play FF7 until the sun comes up and then go to sleep.

Fall is at Uni with me! Fall, don't piss off Unisfans. See, until the AGM, I'm still Fresher Rep, and would therefore have to represent you. With my axe. So... Don't annoy Unisfans. ^_^

*Cries* Okay, now I /have/ to play Kingdom Hearts. I mean, I'm not even all the way through my first play of FF7, but Twig's already addicted me with ALHR, and damn. That description... *cries* I want. I /want/. People I know in RL? Birthday List. PS2. Kingdom Hearts. Fetch. ^__^

I want Devil May Cry too. *whinge* I wish I had the time to play these games... *cries again*

Twig, the new FF8 snip on Casserole is hilarious. *snerks* "A little hard to make it clear, how Squall and he playing ‘tag’ on each other with loaded gunblades was all in the spirit of good fun and very necessary, as necessary as becoming SeeD. Just as much the usual teasing and taunting as the time he froze Squall’s entire room with a Blizzaga only to find nothing left in his own closet but a pile of fine gray ash." ...Just brilliant. I pointed this out to people next to me, and they had a laugh as well. Hee.

*waves to Aspros* Hi. I'll get around to linking you just as soon as I get my laptop back and can therefore update my blog template without all the attributes of my tags disappearing. This is how I lost my archives, and I can't seem to find them again, so I don't want to risk losing anything else. ^_^ Just pretend I've linked you. You're sitting there in that sidebar to your right, between Geek!Ashlea and Cassandra. :) And neat RoD fic. Mmm, tasty. ^_^

Same goes for the House of Mews, too. Rissicat, you made my morning with the "Slash-All" materia comment, and then J!Dave asked what happened if you put Slash-All with Flash... Hee. And Gryphoncat... *evil grin* Why should I stop? It's fu~un... *grins*

Liz, your Sen fic is neat and pretty. *squees* Poor Chihiro... not being about to remember...

Kouri, your latest update is great. Ties that Bind is off to a rocking start. Godd luck with the publishing thing. I'll certainly be buying you and Karasu's stuff. ^_^

Leareth-chan, where /is/ the UWAnime clubroom? Because I've been looking around the page and I must be blind because I can't seem to find it... *cries*

So, yeah. Uni this week. My impressions so far:

Riding to Uni is fine. My back tire needs more air in it. Either that or my butt has gotten soft from 3/4 months of not riding to uni. Probably closer to 5, actually.

I need a new backpack.

Sunburn hurts when your clothes or backpack rubs against it. Especially when other people clap you on the shoulder or try to strangle you *directs look at Aaron*

Maths 217... Monday I didn't have a clue what the guy was talking about. Today, he made more sense. I should do okay in this one, if I actually read the textbook and don't fall behind.

MechEng 101... Well, second time round I should do better. The lecture on monday was the exact same lecture, down to the stupid quote about engineering at the beginning and the 'good luck' at the end. *sigh* I recognised two other people from my year there, so at least I'm not alone...

Object Oriented Programming 224... So. Yeah. *blinks* Objects and classes and instances and inheritance confuse me. Blaargh. I am going to fail.

DSA223... I don't have this until tomorrow, and can't remember what it stands for. *shrugs* oh well.

Everything is the same. Although I miss Fu-kun. I mean, when I had my laptop, I would go into UCC, snag a couch and a cat5 cable, and spend the next hour/hour and a half reading people's weblogs. And now... Well, I've got blogs /and/ LJfriends to check now, and without Fu-kun it becomes an issue of forcing my way through the crush in UCC, fighting my way to a free machine, and then logging in. And of course everything isn't set up how you like it, and you have to go and change the proxies, but... at least mozilla has tabs. But it could cut out the random crashing. >.<

Made my horse-mage character today. She is essentially the D&D equivalent of Rhyliann, except Vantraith is just an ordinary horse, treated with the rules for familliars. (sp?) Her name is Rhiel'Nathala'so'Kite'nasaih, Rhiel is her name, Nathala is her mother's name, so means of, and Kite'nasaih (Key-teh-nah-sigh) is the name of her clan. Think... oh, a cross between the Shin'a'in of Lackey and... well, and Rhyliann. That's the other reason I want Fu-kun - want to work on website! Wah :(

Of course, I don't get to play Rhiel until Ilythia drops out of the campaign, which won't be for a while, seeing as I'm having fun playing her.

And now... I go read people's blogs and then maybe social blog. Either that or go home and watch Buffy. Although I haven't watched last week's episode yet... Oh dear.

No more progress on FF7, really, am still in Mideel, had to go back to the Highwind and save because I had to leave Cameron Hall, but will go back next time I load it up and finish buying stuff. And then... according to J!Dave's strategy guide (Oh, the pretty pictures!) I have to head for Corel and stop a train! Sounds fun.

A ramble of sorts, when a Blogger-working computer wasn't available, is posted on Fallen Angels. The link is everywhere. Go find it. ^_^

George was awesome. Just awesome.

...I have no other words.

I wish this computer had mozilla.

There is social blogging, without linkage, on said LJ. I think it pertains to... oh, Thorne, and Asprosdrakos, spelling apologies. And... *loads LJ in new window* ...the House of Mews. Although that's mostly a 'must add to links list when I get Fu-kun back' kind of hi.

XuQuistis is neat, even if I haven't played FF8. That's next, you see.

Thank you, Catt. I /will/ enjoy my game. ^__^ How could I /not/... it's so /pretty/!

The back of my neck is burning. This is annoying, and moderately painful.

Short sentences are silly. So is IE.

Pain basically over, which is all good.

...Going to bed now. Maybe /tomorrow/ I can play FF7 again...
